Our main course, now in its
third printing, is the"DHC Japanese-English Technical Writing
Course." This course, which underwent minor revisions and
updates for its 1999 printing, features four textbooks containing
a total of 20 lessons. Each lesson has a Clear Writing Section,
a Dynamic Writing Section, and a Vocabulary Section. Students
have up to one year (with an automatic six-month extension availaible,
if needed) to complete the course by submitting their 19 exercise
sheets, four Quarterly Exams, and one Final Exam. Included in
the course materials are 20 Question Cards, on which students
can write specific questions about course concepts related to
grammatical issues. The course materials include a Style Guide
and a Course Guide.

The"DHC Business and Technical
Writing Course is a half-year course that is essentially a condensed
version of the longer course. This business course, revised and
updated in 1998, consists of 12 lessons in two textbooks. Students
submit a total six Exercise Sheets (each covering the material
of two textbook lessons), plus a Midterm Exam and a Final Exam.
There are two options for each exam (which means that students
may choose either of two documents to translate). Students who
enroll in this course receive six question cards, a Course Guide,
and a Style Guide that includes an index of concepts covered in
the course.

The DHC Japanese-English Technical
Writing "Mini-Course" series now has a fifth course,
called "Word Choice,"
first published in May, 2000. This two-lesson course discusses
differences among words that are easily confused and misused by
non-native speakers of English. The DHC Mini-Course series began
in 1997. The other four courses are titled "Articles,"
and "Tense," "Adverbials,"
and "Clarity and Meaning."
The materials for each mini-course include a textbook, two Exercise
Sheets, and two Question Cards.
